My inspiration to become a nurse stemmed from a volunteer experience at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital helping patients choose their meal selections from the daily menu. I saw first hand how involved nurses were unlike the media’s portrayal of them being basic accessories of the doctors. I never looked back when I heard one nurse explaining to a patient in heart failure what his condition truly was and all the ways it would be treated. Ever since I’ve been apart of patient journeys through health and wellness and it has been incredibly rewarding! My husband and family have supported me throughout my own journey in becoming a nurse and now that I’ve graduated Summa Cum Laude from Stony Brook University’s undergraduate school I am continuing in their grad school to become an Adult-Health Nurse Practitioner in the Primary Care setting. I’m looking forward to seeing my patients outside of the hospital in their everyday lives helping them manage their health and wellness and will hopefully create a hybrid practice of conventional methods along with the holistic methods I love like Reiki!
