Hello all👋🏼……. I’m so honored to have been chosen by Lou as the Warrior of the Week. And super nervous about it as well!!!
I was born and raised in Central Islip, in the same house🏡that my dad grew up in. I have a younger 🧑🏼brother who’s one of my best friends, and thanks to him a 👦🏼nephew that has me wrapped around every one of his little fingers. My parents 👫are pretty amazing and they have supported me in all the crazy things I decide to take on in my life.🤪
I ran 🏃🏼♀️track in high school, but I wasn’t a runner by any means. I loved the girls on the team and we had a great coach who taught us all to stop whining🚫and go out there to compete at being better👍🏼then we were before. These factors kept me “running” through my senior year. I went to SUNY Oneonta, got my 👩🏼🎓teaching degree and returned home to Central Islip where I taught👩🏼🏫 first grade for 17 years. I just graduated to teach 6th grade math📊 this year. Some people say I’m a workaholic, I just say I love my job and everything that comes along with it!💜
I currently live in Central Islip with my boyfriend Jake and two rescue 🐶dogs, Lucky 🐾a Pit Bull Mix who survived Hurricane Katrina, and Bailey 🐾a Shepard Lab Mix, who survived shelter life and is lucky that I never returned her back 🤣
I was introduced to the ⛰Selden Hills last July. When I requested to join and came down for my first run I had no idea what I was in for. Lou guided my high school track friend Leslie and I along the whole route, pushed and pulled us on that ☀️hot, humid morning may be a better description.😅 But we did it!! And that’s where my journey to meeting some of the most supportive, friendly amazing people in this group began!!
The running community👟👟as a whole is like a world I never imagined and I’m so glad I found!! The 🌊Ocean to Sound Relay was the first race I participated in as a Warrior, and it was one of the funniest days I’ve ever had…. even though I almost poisoned 🤢 myself with ibuprofen.💊 You live and learn!!🤦🏼♀️ Thanks to my team for figuring it out and helping me laugh through it all!!🤷🏼♀️
I’m both dreading and looking forward to the rest of the week!😂 I hope my posts are half as enjoyable as all the ones I’ve read since I’ve joined this group! ❤️
