Thank you, Lou, for asking me to be “Warrior of the Week”. Thank you also for creating and leading the Selden Hills Warriors. It is an awesome feat, and it’s quite evident you pour your heart and soul into this amazing adventure!

I am truly blessed and have so much to be thankful for. Yes, I’m an optimist – I prefer to smell the roses 🌹.

I’m the luckiest gal to have such an amazing, caring, thoughtful husband of 28 years who’s always got my back, and is a fantastic dad. Our children, Gregory (25) and Melanie (19), make their mama proud. Gregory is a mechanic at Mazda and Melanie is entering her sophomore year at SUNY Oneonta studying psychology with a criminal justice background. She works at a preschool and camp over the summer.

My mom, who is 85, is still hanging in. She’s been diagnosed with cancer and her memory is not what it used to be. All prayers and well wishes are very much appreciated. She’s raised me and my brother and sisters, and now she gets to sit back, relax and be taken care of. I have three sisters and a brother. Unfortunately, family conflict amongst them has put me as the middle(wo)man. I try to help when I can, but otherwise stay out of their tangled web. Why can’t we all just get along? I have five sisters-in-law who are a delight. For Thanksgiving I enjoy commingling the whole fam-damily, at least whoever cares to show up 🦃.

After a couple of different stabs at a career a court officer I know suggested court reporting to me. One of the best decisions I have ever made. I work for the NYS Unified Court System. I’ve been a court reporter for 27 years. Working in County Court in Riverhead is great. The court reporters that I spend my 9 to 5 with are a fantastic group of ladies, as are the rest of the court staff, judges, clerks, court officers, etc. It’s truly a great place to work!

Now to running 🏃‍♀️. I started runnng in 2015. Before running, for several years I went to spin classes and cardio-weight classes. At one point Greg and I had a personal trainer. Our Saturday mornings with Deanna were the best. Something new to kick our butts every week. A beautiful woman, inside and out, Deanna was taken from this life too soon 🙏🏻❤️. Sooooo, back to running. I wanted to exercise without traveling somewhere all the time to make a class at a certain time. Voila – running! And that’s how my magic started!

After reading an article in Newsday in September of 2018 about the Selden Hills Warriors, I asked to join. Lou got in touch and told me what it entailed. Although I started running, except for local tracks and a few 5ks I had never broken out of my neighborhood, so tops I would run five miles. I think of that now – wow, how boring! On Sunday, October 27, 2018 I ran my first “Classic”. Thank you, Bob Haughn, for your encouragement and guidance to get me through it!
