500 Members and Growing!

A huge crowd came out to the Selden hills on a 29* morning to celebrate the 500th member running our 10K hills course! An additional 11 newbies joined our Ms. 500, Evi Scapellati, to send us on our way to our next 500! Cheers to you all!!!

I just want to thank everyone for making me feel so welcome today. I must confess the hills are quite intimidating. I ran the course a couple of summers ago with one of your warriors and thought this is not for me AT ALL! Feeling a bit stronger and a few pounds lighter I figured it was time to revisit this hills challenge so I decided to actually join the group and put forth my best effort. By the grace of the stars alignment I was tagged your 500th member. Now I know it was my time to join you wonderful CRAZY people who love this sport like I do! Thank you Lou and Nancy for making this tough run today sooo worth it!!  -Evi Scapellati via Facebook

The Club Champion Silver Medal Winner was Wil Widman!

The first place age group winners were Lisa Bonanni, Andrea SchieckSongen, Todd Rowley, Linda Ottaviano and Yvonne Leippert.

Lots of hard work…and HILLS!….brought them all these wonderful achievements. You all deserve to take a bow!!

Let’s see what the hills and dedicated training will bring to the rest of us for 2014.

Our Very Own ‘Action Hero’

Our very own Kelly Gibbons has been chosen by Women’s Health Magazine as one of their “Action Heroes” for the next year. She is one of 20 something women chosen nationally to be part of this amazing group of health and fitness minded women. Along with promoting the magazine, they will be part of spreading the word on the Run Ten Feed Ten foundation which helps fight hunger right here in our own community through the Run Ten Feed Ten 10k races and fun runs.

This is going to be a very exciting year ahead and I hope to share the journey with each and every one of you! XOXO – Kelly

As the sun rose over the hills of the 7 sisters in Selden on Sunday morning August 11th, dozens of runners started to gather in the parking lot of the now closed Selden Thrift. They were about to embark on an adventure that would break new ground on our 10K training course. A chat about possibly doing 3 loops of the course consecutively several weeks ago was now becoming a reality!
